Why QTS?

What it means to have QTS in your community

As the digital infrastructure leader, businesses, governments and organisations rely on our data centres. We take our promise to connect the world with purpose seriously. We do this through:

Career and growth advancement

Data centres require thousands of skilled workers to design, construct and operate. We choose markets like Calatorao because of access to a highly skilled and motivated workforce.

Environmental stewardship

We achieve our sustainability mission by prioritising both business success and ethical conduct. This means enhancing the lives of employees, customers, investors and communities while preserving the environment. We make sustainable choices across all aspects of our operations.

Giving back

In line with our core values, we engage in a wide range of volunteer opportunities, community outreach and community partnerships to help others in need in the places we work.

Our standards deliver safety, security and speed-to-market

QTS is building new data centres to provide the infrastructure necessary to support the surging demands of an increasingly digital world; and in doing so, we remain committed to minimising environmental impacts. Our data centres feature a water-free cooling system, are built to green building standards and aim to source power from carbon-free sources.

How we deliver is just as important as what we deliver

As a data centre sustainability leader, QTS has developed a multi-pronged approach to target water inefficiencies within its portfolio of global data centres and thereby support both the environment and the communities in which it operates.

QTS will use its industry-leading water-free cooling system, significantly reducing requirements on local water supplies. The cooling systems operate with a free-cooling technology which helps to minimise power consumption.

Our environmental stewardship sets our data centres apart

Our sustainability goals aim to enhance lives while minimising environmental impact, reducing our carbon footprint, promoting clean energy and benefiting the community.

We plan to create green spaces on-site and our development will ensure preservation of key habitats and off- and on-site biodiversity enhancements.

Frequently asked questions
What is a data centre?

A data centre is a critical infrastructure building that stores large amounts of digital data. You likely access a data centre whenever you use your mobile phone, access your online banking or medical records, or engage in any digital activity.

Data centres play a critical role for businesses and communities. They enable reliable internet connectivity and ensure secure data storage.

Data centres generate important local investment, helping to support local communities and their priorities. The state-of-the-art facility in Calatorao will represent a significant inward investment of up to €7.5 billion.

Creating a data centre campus in Calatorao will bring direct and indirect employment opportunities, both during the construction of the facility and its ongoing operation.

The Calatorao data centre is expected to create approximately 1,400 direct jobs. QTS is committed to recruiting from the local area to establish a local workforce.

The jobs created by QTS’s data centre campuses will extend beyond just those inside the data centre itself. Up to 2,000 indirect jobs are expected.

QTS goes far beyond building and operating the world’s most advanced, sustainable data centres. We’re committed to the communities we operate in. We are actively working in the communities of Calatorao and Zaragoza to find out where and how we can best support residents.
