QTS location: Suwanee, GA
Time with QTS: 6 Weeks
What does a day in your position look like?
While I still have a lot to learn about QTS, a large portion of my days are spent engaging with the business units and stakeholders to understand the nuances and roles within the organization and different facilities. Currently, the most pressing thing I am working on is helping to stand up the internship programs within our target schools and preparing for the fall career fairs at each campus.
What is your favorite part of working for QTS?
While I am a pretty big fan of the $.25 Diet Cokes in the break room, I can’t speak highly enough about the culture at QTS! Since my first day as a QTSer, and even going back into my interview process, I have experienced an environment that relentlessly strives to embody the idea of being a Servant Leader. I love that while we aim to be the leader in creating the World’s Most Valuable Data Center Real Estate, we do so by sticking to our core values serving both our internal and external customers with passion.
What drew you to want to work for QTS?
Speaking with the team throughout my interview process, it was immediately apparent that TA and the People Services department as a whole, share my passion for engaging candidates and building a culture that people truly WANT to be a part of.
What would you say stood out to you most in your first few weeks at QTS?
We have a tremendous amount of growth to manage (and frankly accomplish)! Hearing the company goals and focus at QTS Journey, it was a theme that was echoed time and time again. Our team’s focus is on not only identifying candidates with the right skillsets but identifying candidates that live our values and want to contribute to QTS as Servant Leaders as well.
Why should someone consider a career at QTS?
While this is the primary focus within my role, I would love to be able to answer this in a concise, blanketed statement. The truth is, motivating factors and career aspirations are going to vary from one individual to the next.
However, I think the biggest reason one should consider a career with QTS is actually a few short questions:
Do you want to be a part of a growing company in an industry that is being consumed faster than it is being created?
Would you be interested in working for a company that supports and services almost every major technology brand that you interact with daily?
Is being paid to volunteer and give back to your community important to you?
“Are you ready to have your ‘last first day’ at a new company?”
What passions do you have inside and outside of the office?
I have a bit of bumblebee syndrome with regards to my interests. I am curious by nature, so I enjoy learning about a lot of different areas and “buzzing” between hobbies almost monthly. I love to cook anything from fine dining style to comfort foods. I play AT golf chasing the ball from one hazard to the next. I enjoy technology a lot and am proud to say I recently deployed my first SDN (Software Defined Network) at home with only mild bouts of spousal irritation.
What does a perfect day outside of the office look like for you?
A perfect day for me starts with an early round on the golf course before it gets too hot followed by a slow smoked BBQ lunch. Spending the afternoon out by the pool seeing barbeque rib-stained smiles from my two little girls would be a “must have” in my perfect day. I would then end the day piled up on the couch watching reruns of 80s movies or a Marvel marathon.
