What does a day in your position look like?
The great part about my position is that no day feels the same. On one day, I might be building some inventory data visualizations in PowerBi or Tableau while the next day I could be lost in ServiceNow on a hunt to find a certain data point. No matter what each day brings, I’m surrounded by a great team who work hard day in and day out to drive QTS forward.
What is your favorite part of working for QTS?
The default answer here is the culture. Specifically, the willingness of everyone here to take time out of their day to teach you something or listen while you work an idea out. Coming from the Army, people weren’t always willing to give up their time. Here, anyone and everyone has an open door to help.
What passions do you have inside and outside of the office?
I’m an extremely passionate Philadelphia sports fan. As of writing this, the Phillies are tied 2-2 in the World Series and my heart rate is already above average in anticipation of tonight’s game. Besides Philly sports, I really enjoy getting a good workout in, golfing, and traveling with my wife.
What branch of the military were you in and how long did you serve?
I was in the Army for a little over 9 years. I commissioned in 2013 as an Infantry Officer and served at Ft. Campbell, KY as a Platoon Leader/Executive Officer, Camp Merrill in Dahlonega, GA as a Ranger Instructor, and most recently at Ft. Bragg, NC as a Company Commander.
What advice do you have for those looking to make the transition from military life to corporate life?
One of the biggest questions I asked myself during the transition was how/if I had any transferable skills. I didn’t have any technical jobs, had no idea what any department in a real company did and had to google “What is a data center?” when I applied for my internship here at QTS. All that to say: do not be afraid of the change. The same ideals, values, and core characteristics that drove us to be successful in the military will guide us in the civilian world.
What does a perfect day outside of the office look like for you?
Typically an 8 AM wakeup (perks of being out of the Army)…hitting the golf course for a 9 AM tee time…shooting a 78…meeting my wife & friends for a late brunch somewhere that has football on…watching the Eagles throttle any team (might as well put 8-0 we have the Texans tonight)…in bed by 10 to read for a bit before falling asleep. Also, you’re welcome, KC for Andy Reid.
