The QTS name is staying the same... but we're making our new mark. Stay tuned.

Our areas of focus

Prioritizing clean energy and energy efficiency

QTS takes a forward-looking approach to support the intensifying demand for data centers. Our strategic investments in land, power and critical equipment prioritize access to increasingly clean energy to remain ahead of projected demand.

QTS Commitment

Our commitment to clean and efficiency energy

Carbon-free electricity

We aspire to source increasingly clean energy and the maximum amount of carbon-free electricity.

Power solutions

We continue to evaluate a variety of power solutions to support data center growth, including exploration of natural gas.

Carbon-free energy projects

We invest in carbon-free energy projects, bring forward innovating energy generation and transmission solutions and enable our customers to increase their own carbon-free electricity utilization at our data centers.

Data center efficiency

QTS prioritizes energy efficiency and ensures a controlled and stable load utilization in our data centers.

Our Freedom Design is a best-in-class, highly efficient model that is designed to LEED standards, designed to achieve Energy Star Building Certification, and uses Energy Star appliances.

Carbon-free electricity utilization

In 2023, QTS achieved 100% utilization of carbon-free operational electricity by our data centers.

Additionally, our efforts in enabling our customers to increase their own carbon-free electricity utilization at our data centers resulted in a net 4.5% year-over-year improvement from 2022 (63.1% in 2023).

Power solutions

QTS implements long-term power provider partnerships and utility agreements years before commissioning. QTS also works closely with utility companies to identify innovative and sustainable ways to generate and secure power that best serve our customers, the community and the environment.

QTS pays for all infrastructure related to our data center campuses.

Data centers are anchoring the renewable transition and helping bring online many new large-scale carbon-free projects across our operations. QTS is focused on a long-term path with the aspiration of a 100% carbon-free energy future.

QTS partners with investment banks, developers, suppliers and utility companies on initiatives that introduce new carbon-free energy onto the grid.

  • Under Portland General Electric’s Green Future Impact program, QTS is developing a data center campus to support Meta’s operations in the region that will be powered by renewable energy from Tower Solar, meeting Meta’s sustainability and 100% renewable energy goals.
  • QTS has several long-term power purchase agreements with Georgia Power, totaling nearly 400MW of solar energy projects commencing in early 2025, and multiple wind energy projects in Texas.
  • QTS developed a Green Power Procurement Model using a combination of short- and long-term power purchase agreements to procure electricity generated from carbon-free sources, renewable energy credits and onsite power generation from carbon-free energy sources, wherever feasible.

On-site power generation

QTS is investing in a portfolio of onsite power generation solutions that are intended to reduce demand on the power grid. QTS is also exploring cleaner energy solutions such as fuel cells, geothermal and sustainable energy storage technologies.

A leader in environmental stewardship

QTS hosts utility summits with key industry participants, partnering with energy leaders to discuss opportunities to solve complex industry constraints and challenges, and helping support corporate sustainability awareness and practices. QTS participates in several sustainability programs and partnerships that help distinguish us from other data center providers.

U.S. Department of Energy Better Climate Change

QTS is one of more than 90 U.S. companies that have committed to halve their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030. QTS has committed to 50% GHG reductions within 10 years from a 2022 baseline.

Green Power Partnership Program

QTS is amember of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership program, which encourages organizations to buy green power to reduce the environmental impacts of their electricity use.

Clean Energy Buyers Alliance (CEBA)

CEBA works to unlock the marketplace for all nonresidential energy buyers and transition to a zero-carbon energy future. In partnership with CEBA, QTS continues to advocate for more cost-effective pricing for renewables across the country and speaks at numerous events sharing sustainability expertise across our sector.
