WHY QTS
As the digital infrastructure leader, businesses, governments and organisations rely on our data centres. We take our promise to connect the world with purpose, seriously. We do this through:
Data centres require thousands of skilled workers to design, construct and operate. We choose markets like Cambois/Blyth because of access to a highly skilled and motivated workforce.
We achieve our sustainability mission by prioritising both business success and ethical conduct. This means enhancing the lives of employees, customers, investors and communities while preserving the environment. We make sustainable choices across all aspects of our operations.
In line with our core values, we engage in a wide range of volunteer opportunities, community outreach and community partnerships to help others in need in the places we work.
QTS is building new data centres to provide the infrastructure necessary to support the surging demands of an increasingly digital world; and in doing so, we remain committed to minimising environmental impacts. Our data centres feature a water-free cooling system, are built to green building standards and aims to source power from carbon free sources.
As a leader in data centre sustainability, QTS has developed a multi-pronged approach to target water inefficiencies within its portfolio of global data centres and thereby support both the environment and the communities in which it operates.
A data centre is a building that stores and manages large amounts of digital data. Data centres are essential for businesses, governments and organisations that rely on technology to operate and communicate. You access a data centre whenever you use your mobile phone, access your online banking, store photos in the cloud or any online activity.
Data centres generate important local investment, helping to support local communities and their priorities. The jobs created by QTS’s data centre campuses will extend beyond just those inside the data centre itself. For every job directly created, six to seven other jobs are supported in related industries. The building of a data centre at Cambois would create hundreds of construction jobs, in addition to supporting businesses involved in furnishing and equipping the data centre and operational jobs such as security, maintenance, and logistical support roles.
We are currently working with the Council and other stakeholders to advance the planning process that will enable the data centre campus development, starting with the submission of an outline planning application. We’re looking forward to connecting more with the local communities.
Our company and employees donate time, technology and resources to support local programmes and agencies. We are committed to improving communities and changing lives.
For example, elsewhere in the UK we support Thames21 in riverbank clean-up.
In the Netherlands we have supported Children’s Play Week, Foundation for Surinamese Families, Groninger Museum, Netherlands Food Bank, Foodbank Groningen, Thuisbasis Veteranen, Stichting Kwaku and Westerbork Museum.
